1. Security Threats to Data
2. Too Many Hardware & Software
3. Network Configuration
4. Device Diversity
Internet of Things Testing (IoT) is the fastest growing sector in the Testing World. According to a report from McKinsey, by 2020 there will be over 30 M devices through IoT (Internet of Things).
Biggest challenge for the Internet Of Things while testing:
- Security Threats to Data
The amount of data collected and communicated by connected devices is vast. When such a great volume of data is generated, it also raises concerns related to data leaks or unauthorized access. IoT devices are vulnerable to security threats, it is important to test and determine security loopholes and address them instantly
2. Too Many Hardware & Software
IoT devices rely on the range of hardware and software components for its operation. With so diversification of hardware and software, it is not possible for expert testers to test every aspect. Such hardware and software complexities can make IoT testing more tedious.
3. Network Configuration
Network configuration critically affects the performance of an IoT device, as IoT is all about rapid communication every time. However, sometimes devices experience troubles with network configurations like variant internet connections, encumbering channels, etc. Testers need to perform IoT testing in such IoT devices to ensure a better connection.
4. Device Diversity
We do not limit IoT to just one device, there is a range of devices belonging to different platforms. It is not possible for software testers to test the application performance across all the devices.
While the IoT brings an unusual level of complexity to performance monitoring and testing, the business opportunities that the devices present offer an exciting new frontier.
